“In varietals like this (Mataro) can be such a joy to sit down and relax into its dark, crumbled earth and five-spice set of smells plus the whiff of old kitchens where the pots have been bubbling with beef stew – and then you sip in its rich, soft and warming ooze. This is one of this winter’s finest.”

“Andrew Caillard's team has made an art of mataro as well as the labels on the Caillard releases. This is a wine as much about texture as it is about flavour, each acting in synergistic support of the other, wild herbs linking with sour cherry and spice."

“New art each year on the bottle, and in the bottle.

Boysenberries, clod earth below, perfume above, spice box, and a gentle pencilly oak. Medium bodied, fresher this vintage, almost perky with acidity, firm well-knit tannin binds the juicy, almost malt and cherry-like fruit flavour, then crisp and fresh on the long finish. Distinctive wine. A lighter shade of Barossa.”
