"This could double as cabernet cologne. It exhibits that gorgeous cassis and violet scent, lifted by mint and finished with aromas of dried, brown tobacco. It acts - when you finally begin to drink it - as its introduction caused you to expect, its lines of blackcurrant trained by thick, warm tannin. Classic lines."

"Very deep, brooding red/purple colour. The palate is full-bodied and dense, concentrated and solidly structured, with ample tongue-coating tannins. The bouquet is rather quiet at this stage, while the palate certainly delivers. It has excellent depth of dark fruit flavours. A full-bodied, dense, muscular wine, which is more about structure than about fruity charm or prettiness. A wine for cellaring. It will reward the patient handsomely."

"It smells beautiful. A flood of cassis and violet, oak nestled neatly within. The palate follows suit, deep, brooding, warm and firm. It offers a comforting hug and then squeezes tight. Whether or not it’s a little too tight, and fractionally warm; I’d opt for neither, but the questions were raised. As it breathed and unfolded my confidence in it grew accordingly."
